Dublin Day #7

Written by David Paradela, Marty Brown, Johnny Carey, Brendan Wright

When we got to school in this morning, we heard some background information on the play we were going to see that night, Macbeth by William Shakespeare. We also prepared for the upcoming debate on the rights of countries to possess nuclear arms. After prayer and reflection in our journals, we went to three classes. The classes are fun because you get to meet Irish students and learn about their culture and views. After that we went to the Belvedere Youth Club.

The club is a place where city kids from around the community can come together to play sports and get active. It is also a place where high school students go to learn about justice and leadership. There, we played a game called “scotch” as an icebreaker, we discussed and decided on laws for crimes and we played a game called mobsters and villagers. That evening we went to the Abbey Theatre to watch Macbeth.
The theatre is very historic and is the national theatre of Ireland. It is a fairly small theatre, and the play was very exciting. There was a lot of blood, action and a lot of fighting scenes. After the show we went home. Our host families have been very good to us. That was a good day.
